Sara Carver-Milne begins her sixth year at the helm of the Brown gymnastic program. Prior becoming the head coach, she served as an assistant for one year with the Bears. In 2004, the Bears continued their improvement under Carver-Milne posting a 15-9 record. The past three seasons, Carver-Milne led the Bears to new school records in every event. Carver-Milne was named ECAC Coach of the Year and led the Bears to their first victory over URI in nearly 25 years that same year. In 2003, Carver-Milne led two gymnasts to NCAA Regional all-around competition, and in 2004, she led one all-around competitor to the Region competition. She coached the 2003 and 2004 ECAC Gymnast of the Year and the 2004 Brown Athlete of the Year. Her team has finished third at the ECAC Championships the past two seasons. Carver-Milne's gymnasts also ranked 13th in the nation academically with a team GPA of 3.43, and eleven gymnasts earned Academic All-American honors. Prior to starting at Brown, Carver-Milne was a gymnast for 18 years, and coached both an Elite-level private club gymnastics team in Texas and a high school girls' team. A 1997 graduate of Alaska-Anchorage, Carver-Milne was an NCAA gymnast and National competitor. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Communications. In addition to her duties at Brown, Carver-Milne is a volunteer at the American Heart Association. Carver-Milne resides in Providence, RI with her husband Stew and children Aiden and Camden. |
